Hot tub filters are important parts of the hot tubs workings that help to get rid of small bits of grit, body oils and other debris from the hot tub water. They aid the owner of the hot tub to relax in beautifully crystal clear, clean water.
If you succeed in keeping your hot tub filter component clean, then it improves the effectiveness of the filter cartridge, lengthening its working life, meaning cheaper running costs for the hot tub and constantly clear water that you have no issues about bathing in.
Filters should be cleaned routinely; every fortnight to three weeks depending on the frequency of hot tub usage and what sanitization product you use. All cleaning product instructions should be read thoroughly as manufacturers cleaning routines can vary between different cleaning products.
The filter should be removed from the hot tub and washed out underneath warm running water to allow the debris to be washed out. The filter unit should then be soaked for overnight in a filter cleaner solution product and then rinsed out and left to dry. It is important to be dried naturally as artificial heat will damage the filter cartridge.
In order to increase the working life of the filter, it is important that the water in the hot tub should be in the right ph adjustment. You should try to be gentle when cleaning the cartridge and allow the filter to dry out completely naturally before replacing it in the hot tub.
A good quality hot tub filter should last twelve months but as they have no mechanical parts it can be difficult to say. There are some things to look out for to see if a filter part needs to be replaced; physical anomalies in the filter cartridge such as the plastic or the fibre cracking is the most obvious, but cleaning intervals can become dramatically shorter, flow rates can lessen and general poor water quality are also indications that the filter may have come to the end of its life and need to be changed.
If the Hot Tub filter does need to be changed then you should use the same part and serial number which can normally be found towards the bottom of the filter cartridge. The wrong filter can lead to problems with your hot tub so it is important to get the right one as they are not always compatible.
